Couple Linda Choi and Ace Cheng wanted to let their nerd flags fly at their June wedding.
“We got excited about sci-fi elements being a part of the wedding, but not in a cheesy way,” Linda told The Huffington Post.
At the pair’s June 6 wedding at Sunstone Winery in Santa Ynez, California, they successfully weaved together their love of “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” in the most tasteful way.
It started with the spectacular invitations, designed by the bride’s BFF Heather Cassils. On them, Ace is rendered as a Stormtrooper and Linda as a Vulcan.
One of the most awesome elements? All of the “Star Wars” characters from the 501st Legion — a fan-based costuming organization — that showed up ready to party.
The Stormtroopers also doubled as flower girls at the ceremony — an excellent idea courtesy of planner Nam Lam of Modern LA Weddings.
One of Linda’s best friends surprised her by having some guests wear Vulcan ears.
At the reception, there was a light saber dance party that was not to be missed.
And a light saber cake-cutting too.
“We really wanted our wedding to be spectacular for our guests so that they left full of food, wine, and ready for more at the after party,” Linda told HuffPost. “We really felt it was important to make a statement for queer weddings in general particularly since the U.S. Supreme Court decision was set to come out that month.”
