The Diversity of Women Makes Us Stronger

- Written by Lex Horwitz

At Woxer we celebrate the power and strength of all women year round, honoring your authenticity and individuality. Whatever being a woman means to you, and your connection to womanhood, today on International Women’s Day, we are here to boost our message of love and support for all the fearless women out there–and that of course includes our trans, intersex, and gender diverse sisters, siblings, and community members. The diversity of experience, existence and identities of all women is a strength–at Woxer we cherish all of our trans sisters and siblings, and not only do we honor the spectrum of gender identity, we relish in its absolute beauty. So whether you identify solely with the term woman or with multiple gender identity terms, we are here to uplift and advocate for you–you are valid.

Connecting with Our Community

Women are making history and changing the world. From fighting for equality to becoming leaders in your communities and serving as role models and exemplars for all, women are planting seeds for future generations that will grow into a brighter tomorrow--one free from gender bias and stereotypes! Until that becomes our lived reality, women will continue to defy stereotypes and break down barriers, living authentically and confidently as an inspiration for all. Women are a force to be reckoned with, so keep fighting for what’s right and inspiring others. And know that at Woxer we are here cheering you on. Stand in your greatness and empower those around you. You are unstoppable when you are true to yourself. You inspire us everyday–keep doing you.

      The
Break Free campaign, is all about embracing who you are and feeling confident in your own skin. When you are true to yourself, that is always good enough–don’t let anyone tell you or make you think otherwise. You deserve the right to be who you are, and to love yourself for being you. So today and always, let’s celebrate the beauty and diversity of all the badass women out there. We want you to be free, establish deep roots in your authenticity, and shine brighter than ever before.

Be BOLD. Be FEARLESS. Be YOU.

Join us as we stand up for what is right, and fight for a better future for all women. There are SO many organizations run by and for trans folx, and they need our support. Check out this list below to see how you can support the trans community!

Celebrating Modern Revolutionaries with the #NoLimits Campaign

This year we’re changing it up a bit! We don’t check off all the boxes of society’s standards, we rebel against mediocrity and this is what makes us who we are! We are nonconformists, unique, wild, free-thinkers, and revolutionaries! To kick it off, we want to introduce the individuals of the #NoLimits campaign. This campaign means a lot to us. It was inspired by authentic people who empower their community and in doing so, themselves as well! This campaign is designed to be a reflection of you—the Revolutionaries!

In this society, we are often told who to be, what choices to make and to abide by the rules of a mediocre lifestyle. We’re putting an end to this! The possibilities are limitless! We want to celebrate all the reasons that being yourself is a progressive form of protest-how being true to yourself is revolutionary! This campaign is led by 3 remarkable individuals, who are examples of selflessness across a variety of forms. We chose them based on their unapologetic dedication to being their fully authentic self, their generous support to their community, and the inspiration they emit to those around them.

Here’s a sneak peek of the revolutionaries we’re showcasing this week:

EVA MACHADO

Nurse & Entrepreneur

JESS GUTI

Student & Food Justice Activist

KELLY ROBOTHAM

Dance Mentor

But the party doesn’t stop here! We’re donating a portion of the proceeds from the Limitless Collection to Code/Art Miami. This non-profit organization is on a mission to increase the number of girls studying computer science by inspiring them with the creative possibilities of computer programming. Through this program, girls are provided with the resources needed to succeed in computer science fields and create new innovations drawn from their unique experiences.

By shopping the Woxer Limitless collection, you’re supporting this effort.

BLACK LIVES MATTER

At Woxer, we want to make it known that we do not accept or tolerate racism. We celebrate diversity. The beauty that we are all different. We believe that what defines each one of us comes from within—how we treat others and the impact that we have on one another.

We established our company with kindness, empathy, and respect, and these are values that will remain with us forever. We value working together as a community, and our team of women of color strives to be better people each day.

This is why we cannot stress this enough—BLACK LIVES MATTER. We have failed our Black brothers and sisters, but we will move forward with actionable steps that we need to take as a community to advocate for change. We have been making donations and will continue to help organizations that raise awareness.

We must stand together against discrimination, prejudice, inequality, and injustice that Black lives continue to face to this day. Change is never an easy road, but it's a road that we all have to take to pave the way for a better society.

Join us in making this change.

What Does Sustainability Mean?

What Does Sustainability Mean?

Sustainability. When we hear that word, we typically think of resources that can be harnessed and used from the earth without harming the environment. Since the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, we see that sustainability means so much more than that.

The evolution of sustainability

With the world on pause, we quickly see what we need to sustain not only the planet, but our own mental and physical health.

During the first days of the COVID-19 crisis, the notion of sustainability switched from the planet to personal wellbeing. Everyone wanted to ensure they had food and shelter. Issues around this became quickly apparent as workers were forced to stay home, jeopardizing their ability to pay for rent/mortgages. Then the panic shopping and hoarding started, stripping shelves bare of food, diapers, and (inexplicably) toilet paper.

Disturbingly, some of the earth-sustainable practices humans fought so hard to put into place went right out the window. Shoppers were encouraged to leave their reusable bags at home and only use plastic disposable bags. Refillable coffee mugs and dishes disappeared from restaurants in favor of disposable takeout containers. Cases of plastic water bottles flew off the shelves.

As COVID-19 forced the world into a new normal and we became more accustomed to being at home and curtailing our consumerism, the world showed us how much damage we had done. Animals that had been forced from their habitats came into the cities. The air quality changed dramatically; pollution levels dropped. Waterways cleared. It’s almost like the planet is breathing a sigh of relief.

Lessons learned about sustainability

Learning that we can live on less, learning about what we truly value (which is, apparently, toilet paper), and seeing the extent of the damage we have done to the planet should give us all a giant moment of pause (beyond the forced pause of isolation). We are in dire circumstances but can glean some positives going forward if we use this time to truly think about what sustainability means to us on a personal level.

After the pandemic will you rush back into your former life or will you:

  • Think about ways you can better impact the planet to keep pollution low and waters cleaner.
  • Think about what you need in your life to sustain your wellbeing and realize it is people and relationships more than the latest expensive branded gadgets.
  • Think about the food you eat and the clothes you wear, where they come from, what they do to your body, and if its procurement honors the people and resources used to get you that food/clothing item.

The biggest sustainability factor is comfort

If we have learned nothing else from the pandemic, the one big takeaway is that comfort is the biggest sustainability factor. Comfort is what is driving everything from the need to hoard toilet paper to bake banana bread. Right now, we are not focused on the latest iPhone or the next dream vacation. We want to feel comfortable and secure – and something as simple as toilet paper and a warm slice of banana bread is what it takes to sustain us.

We get it. At Woxer our mantra has always been: comfort, comfort, comfort. When you are comfortable, you are empowered. When you are empowered, you make better decisions for yourself and for the planet. When you make positive decisions, you sustain yourself and the world around you.

Woxer stands for sustainability in all forms. We empower you to sustain yourself by living your most comfortable life and we encourage environmentally sustainable practices by using ethically-sourced, renewable modal fabric in our products.

We care about you. We care about the planet. We are passionate about sustainability.
